Are you waiting for the “PERFECT” time to get your family portraits? Waiting until you’ve shed 5kg more, until little Jimmy has all his teeth or Katie gets her braces off?
The perfect time is NOW! Always now! Why? Because is there ever really a perfect time? Someone is always missing teeth, got braces, broken arm, 5kg “too heavy” and then before you know it (not even joking!) your kids have left home and it becomes EVEN HARDER to get everyone together!
As mentioned previously, we do a family portrait each year and hang them on a gallery in our kitchen. I have photos up there where my hair was way overdue for a recolour, where I was 20kg+ what I am now, kids with missing teeth (I actually LOVE this!!) and everything in between. Not one of those photos do I look at now and say “oh I wish I hadn’t have taken that photo” or “I’m so embarrassed I’m 20kg+ in that photo there”. I do however look at our wall and think, “you know, this is the best thing I have EVER done for our family”. We all absolutely love it and I think it is an absolute gift, from us, to us. (See photos below)
Each photo captures who we are at that moment in time. They are authentic and real, capturing our true family as we were, as opposed to something crafted and forced.
I think the hardest thing about having your photo taken is actually BOOKING it!! Once you’ve decided to do it, making that first contact with your photographer (who would obviously be me ;oP) is perhaps the biggest hurdle. From there it’s so easy! You turn up and be your marvellous selves, I turn up and snap you being amazing and then deliver you beautiful images. As you were. Perfectly authentic.
Clients reiterate to me time and time again, how they’re so glad they made the time to get their family portraits done. Essentially that’s what it comes back to, making it a priority. Saying “you don’t have time”, really could just be an excuse?
So here’s a challenge for you. BOOK the session. Because today is nearly gone and it’s never more perfect.
On Wednesday I was interviewed by the amazingly authentic Kate Tonkin from Real Food, Real You on this very topic. I’m embarrassed to say I droned on a bit, but I couldn’t help it! I’m so bloody passionate about family photos and their importance in our lives!!! I’d love you to support us both and head over to her blog and take a listen https://realfoodrealyou.com.au/blog/
