OPAM: July 08

Take OUR family portraits! :D

We did this at about this time last year, I really should do it every year, so here I am making it an OPAM (One Project a Month) making sure I am accountable!

I got my business name on the back of my car again today.  I used to have it on our old car & it has taken me nearly a year to do it again!  No more yelling at my kids in the carpark anymore!!!! :oP :D  

My last "free" day before school holidays so I am off to do a bit of kid free retail therapy!  Happy hump day :o)

Pepi Dog

Seriously neglected in the photo stakes, I thought it was about time I pointed the lense in her direction for a few moments.  Armed with a handful of cheese & a my camera I set about looking & sounding like a fool as I attempted to keep her attention!!  

This is "Typical Pepi"

"What you got there Mum?"

Me:  "Who's there Pepi?"

Pepi: "AHHHHH"

"WOOF"!

"Holy Batman, that was LOUD"!

Both the kids are sick today.  Have kept Zali home from school in an attempt to keep her warm & try & shake off this damn cough before it gets out of hand.

First day of the Financial Year hmmmm I guess that signifies that I can't ignore my bookwork any more!

OPAM: June 2008, completed... sort of!

Well the bulk of it is done!  I still want to add pictures above the lengthways one.  Have thought about tagging each of the baskets as well to make finding things easier, but the kids haven't really held issue with that so far.

It does look a whole lot better (thanks Ikea) and the idea is that by having the two separate units it makes it a more flexible solution should we ever get a playroom or IF the kids ever ended up having their own rooms then they could have 1 each in their bedrooms *dreams of getting toys out of the lounge room*!!!

Mud on my boots

This morning we headed out to a friends property.  Their kelpie had some puppies some weeks ago & the kids were busting to see them!  It's been raining on & off for a few days now & today was no exception with it raining the whole way out there.  Lucky for us it held off while we spent an hour or two running around with the puppies & went for a walk up to the sheds to show Fynn the tractor.  The little puppies clambered along after Pepi (our dog) all along the walk, puffing up their chests, barking at her, but really looking for a good play!  She definitely gave them a run for their money!!!!

It's so beautiful out there at the moment.  After a couple of drought years its so nice to see some green country, crops growing & even mud!  In between the showers, the sun shone and the country side almost glowed with the beautiful sweet green of the pasture & the almost fluro yellow flower of canola.

It's days like today that make me sad we don't live on a farm anymore.  It makes me long for the fresh air, the open spaces & the abundant photo opportunities!  I was telling Ren on the way out that I really shouldn't go out when it's so pretty, I miss it too much!  I should restrict myself to the 45C days with a big hot easterly winds, bare paddocks & dust storms!!!

Brisbane in Spring :D

It's been a long time in the planning with a few false starts, BUT the airfares are booked :D  

Brisbane here we come!

I am currently contacting those clients that have expressed an interest in sessions & then I will open it up to everyone else :o)  (Note: keep the weekend of 25th & 26th October free!)  It will be a first come, first served basis, so if you are interested feel free to drop me an email & I will fill you in.  

We'll be in beautiful Queensland for about 8 days or so & we are so looking forward to it.  We're planning to catch up with friends, explore and of course do some sessions.

Instant Friends

From the moment I walked in the door little Eloise & I were instant friends.  How could you not love her cheeky smile & cute little piggies?!!  Normally pretty wary of strangers I am told, not that day!  We had a wonderful time playing all sorts of silly games to get the giggles going! :D  Little pocket rocket she is too, I think my camera would weigh more than she does!!

Oh by the way, did I mention it is winter here at the moment?!!  

We're counting down the sleeps now until school holidays start.  Slow mornings, getting breakfast when we're ready, staying in our PJs all day if we want to, picnics at the park, visiting friends, basically 2 weeks of bliss :D

I feel like I need to do this for a week... sleep.  Do nothing.  Just "be".  Anyone care to join me?!  If only I could look this beautiful while I did it! :D

My June OPAM is coming along. I've replaced the furniture & am hoping to have a few final details done before I post :o) I did say "hoping", you did notice that didn't you? :oP

brrr Winter is Here!

brrrrr it's cold!!

Saturday was the most glorious day with big beautiful blue skies but since Sunday it has just turned cold & windy & rainy - very, very much like what winter should be I guess!  The ugg boots are out, the heater is on at night times & hot chocolates are just standard issue!

I am a little behind on my processing atm - my apologies.  Life has just got on top of us, but I am back in the wing of things & should be up to date by the end of the week :o)

Beautiful little Darcy

She had a fall the day I arrived & then didn't have her normal sleep on the day of her shoot - she must have known I was coming!!!!  BUT she was fantastic, no tears, just gorgeous smiles :o)

C- No.

C- Close your eyes..... ...... Can you see it?!!!

F- Yes!!

F- Yes!! (wow she's good!)

C- Nope (apart from the fact that it is brown, nope!)

C- No.  (Has he forgotten already?)

C- No.  (OMG he HAS forgotten!)

Z&F - we give up!

C- Close your eyes!  (it's good isn't it?!)

Another case of "is my kid smarter than a hamster?" LOL

Isla

It was such a pleasure to meet Isla, her sister Sabine & her beautiful parents Luke & Tanya on the weekend.

Isla has Infantile Batten Disease a form of "Batten Disease which is the common name for a group of disorders called neuronal ceroid lipofucinoses (or NCLs).  The NCLs are rare genetic neurodegenerative disorders affecting the nerve cells in the brain, causing a progressive loss of physical and mental skills".  You can read about it in more detail here.  There is no cure.  

We wanted to capture some images of the girls together & also the family as a whole.

Luke & Tanya you are two beautiful people with warm and caring souls.  Isla could not have chosen a better family to spend her days with, she is so blessed.

OPAM: June 08

One Project a Month time again :D  This time it is the dreaded toy storage area in the Lounge Room.  Oh how I dream of a dedicated rumpus room so all this mess is out of sight!  

I have been umming & ahhing over what to do here for literally YEARS!  So this is definitely the push I need to actually do something this time.  I want simple, clean & easy to access for the kids... 

So here is the dreaded BEFORE & note that I didn't even clean up (for added effect of course ;oP)!!

Surely it can only improve?!!!

How expensive are jeans these days?

and is it not the most demoralising thing to do along side shopping for bathers?!  Why can you not just walk into a shop & the perfect pair of jeans not just appear at the front of the rack with a flashing light atop of them?

My ONLY shopping mission in Perth over the weekend was to buy 2 pairs of jeans.  So I stop at the first shopping centre on my way in to town thinking that I will just get this over & done with.  Finally find a park walk the half a kilometre to the unsightly beast of a building, find my two reliable jeans shops... perfect.  Right?  Except than NONE fit me?  So for years jeans from these people have always fitted and now when I desperately need a couple of pairs they don't?  What is with THAT?

So 30 minutes later, feeling cranky and enormous I haul my backside out of there & give up for the day :o(

Saturday morning I finish my shoot & then head straight to a different shopping centre.  Surely with snagging an undercover park within metres of the stairs is a good sign?  1 bag, 2 pairs of shoes, a top & 3 hours later I walk out with ONE pair of jeans!  That is an expensive pair of jeans, no?!!

So this morning I decide that I will just go back & buy another pair of the same jeans & just be done with it.  Besides it is Sunday.  The shops don't open until 11am, I have to drive 4 1/2 hrs home, I don't drive in the dark & I want to spend some time with the kids before they go to bed.  Let's just take the easy road.

So I get into the city go to Myer to track down these jeans but OF COURSE they don't have them in my size.  I mean WHY would I expect anything less?  2 more pairs of shoes later (ok ok it IS sale time, so it really isn't as bad as it sounds...promise!)  I find another pair of jeans that fit & suit me... so I buy 2 pairs!!

So tell me, when did buying 2 pairs of jeans ever become so expensive?!!!  *argh*!

Anyway, it's nice to be home.  Kiss my husband.  Hug my kids.  I missed them.  It's nice to be home :o)

Give the man a camera!

So Ren has been hinting at me for a while now to teach him a bit about photography.  He's always had an underlying interest in it.  Always thought that one day he would extend that interest.  So Sunday morning while we were enjoying our breakfast out in the front garden under the beautiful morning sun the coaching began.  It was nice.  Really nice.  To share.  To hang out with my family and really talk photography.  To be together.  To do something together.  

We did a bit of chimping (looking at photo's on the viewfinder for all the non-photogs!) on the day & I was pretty pleased with some of what he took.  Our cousins arrived then & the camera was put away.  Fast forward to today & while getting my gear ready to take to Perth.  Clearing cards etc. I checked to see what was on the camera, saw it was Ren's "coaching morning" and nearly just hit delete on the entire card but then decided to quickly flick thru.  Oh gosh, I am so glad I did!!!

Perth this weekend. Anyone?

I still have 2 session times available for this weekend in PERTH.  Friday afternoon at 4pm or Sunday morning at 8am.  Please let me know if you're interested or pass on my info to any friends that may?  

I also need to decide on an OPAM (One Project a Month) for June.  I did have painting the kitchen in mind, but we up & completed that last weekend.  After putting that & our bedroom off for so many years, it was great to take the opportunity to get them both done!!  YAY!!

I do have a couple of really untidy areas in the house atm, so maybe I should make a point of getting those organised!  LIKE where the kids store their toys in the Lounge Room!  *argh* it does my head in and it's another project I continually put off again & again....

Will think on it some more, make a decision & get some photo's.  Anyone care to join me?
